Product Design Engineer

Location: Somercotes

Our client is a well established manufacturing business that supplies products to some of the UK's largest infrastructure projects.

Due to expansion, our client is looking to recruit a Lead Product Design Engineer to join their team.

As a Lead Product Engineer you'll be delivering new product designs and product improvements that meet customer, business, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead or contribute to major product development projects and multiple smaller initiatives.

* Deliver product designs through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and pre-production stages using stage-gate principles.

* Ensure designs are process-capable, repeatable, and compliant with industry and customer requirements.

* Support packaging development, including materials selection, specifications, supplier engagement, and testing.

* Work closely with manufacturing to optimise production and packaging solutions.

* Provide technical leadership, guidance, and workload coordination for engineers and project team members.

* Facilitate cross-functional communication and structured problem-solving.

* Support project planning, risk management, and prioritisation activities.

For this role your client is looking for someone who has:

- * Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatable experience

* Previous experience in Product Design or Development

* Proficient in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred).

* Experience in managing projects with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time

* Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

This role is a hybrid role based in Derbyshire - the ability to commute to the Derbyshire office is essential.
