Crystal Lake School District 47 has an opening for an Assistive Technology Professional, beginning the school year. The role involves collaborating with students, their educational teams, and parents to assess and provide assistive technology tools to support students' access to education. Strategies include using both low and high tech assistive devices and implementation support. The position serves all D47 students, focusing on high incidence populations, with support for low incidence cases.
An assistive technology mentor will be provided.
- Strong technology skills and knowledge of Google Apps for Education tools
- Knowledge of low and high tech assistive technology tools supporting various educational needs
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Comply with all state rules, Board policies, and administrative procedures
- Maintain timely reports and records
- Understand disability-related issues affecting access to learning and recommend appropriate interventions and devices
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team, contribute creative solutions, and support classroom instruction
- Assess skills of educational team members, delegate duties, monitor technology implementation, and provide training
- Demonstrate effective instructional strategies, including communication, engagement, and flexibility
- Provide training and resources to staff, students, and parents
- Work independently in itinerant settings and travel between buildings
- Manage inventory of assistive devices and software
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Special Education endorsement
- Minimum of 3 years experience with students with special needs
- Adaptability and ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
- Problem-solving skills focused on solutions for students and staff
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate conversations with staff and interact with students
- High levels of flexibility, interpersonal skills, articulation, and organization
- Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and travel between buildings
