Pay: $33.65 – $40.86 per hour

Responsible for maintaining and repairing cold and hot food service equipment (e.g., coolers, freezers, warmers, ovens). Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate measures to fix them. Participate in the District’s Preventative Maintenance program. Respond to emergency repairs. Expect active participation on the building leadership team and maintain strong communication with all facets of building leadership.
Minimum Requirements- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
- Working knowledge of food service equipment.
- Basic knowledge of general preventive maintenance procedures.
- Experience working in the trades is preferred.
- Must have active Universal Type Section 608 Refrigeration Certification from the US EPA.
The role requires frequent walking, reaching, climbing/balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Manual dexterity and communication are also frequent requirements. Occasional demands include standing, sitting, and tasting or smelling. Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working ConditionsEnvironmental conditions may include wet/humid conditions, exposure to loud noise, and the occasional presence of extreme cold or heat. Employees are exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risks associated with moving mechanical parts, vibration, and electrical shock. The work may also include exposure to outside weather conditions.
