AVIR at Alice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our in-house rehabilitation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who enjoys providing patient-centered care and collaborating with residents, families, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation professionals to help residents improve communication, swallowing safety, cognitive function, and overall quality of life.
Position Responsibilities- Evaluate residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized speech-language pathology treatment plans based on residents' needs, goals, and plan of care.
- Provide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with residents' treatment plans.
- Treat communication disorders, including speech, language, voice, and cognitive-communication deficits.
- Assess and treat swallowing and feeding disorders and provide appropriate dysphagia management.
- Recommend and implement appropriate compensatory strategies, therapeutic exercises, and communication techniques.
- Make recommendations regarding diet texture, liquid consistency, swallowing precautions, and safe feeding strategies as clinically indicated.
- Monitor residents' progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
- Complete accurate and timely evaluations, treatment documentation, progress notes, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, COTAs, nursing staff, physicians, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding communication strategies, swallowing safety, therapeutic techniques, and recommendations.
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings as appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with facility, state, federal, and professional standards and regulations.
- Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care.
- Current Texas Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in good standing.
- Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), as applicable.
- Strong clinical, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting preferred.
- Knowledge of dysphagia management and cognitive-communication disorders preferred.
- Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
