Primary Purpose

Performs maintenance activities on parks grounds, building, recreational and athletic facilities and small equipment in accordance with established procedures for proper maintenance of equipment, departmental operation and safety.

Education / Certification

Clear and valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge / Skills

• Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• General knowledge of materials, equipment and methods used in the trade
• Mechanical aptitude

Experience

• Prefer 2 years' experience in landscaping, lawncare, and other agricultural work at a golf course
• Experience in operating zero-turn mowers and tractors pulling mowers that are PTO driven
• Prefer experience in managing pond algae

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Performs landscape maintenance involving mowing, raking, planting, trimming trees, grass and weeds
• Mowing fairway, greens, and rough areas using specific techniques common to golf course care and upkeep
• Safely operate lawn and turf maintenance equipment
• Maintain, clean and store assigned equipment according to established policies and procedures.
• Dig and/or fill holes using shovels or other lawn care equipment
• Assists in leveling out tee boxes
• Assists in spreading fertilizer
• Assists in repairs of irrigation systems
• Assists in golf cart maintenance including flat tire repair and battery maintenance
• General upkeep of the maintenance barn

• Motion:
  Repetitive hand motions; frequent walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching
• Lifting:
  Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
• Environment:
  Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, insects and wildlife including bees and snakes; dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; may work alone; occasional prolonged or irregular hours
