Under supervision, performs skilled construction work and operates several types of construction equipment.

• Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• 2+ years of industrial/utility construction work experience.
• High School Diploma/GED.

• Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Basic math skills.

• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
• Sets up barricades when required to protect employees and the general public.
• Digs holes, run‑off gutters, and trenches using hand tools and other equipment.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications.

All essential positions are subject to recall during emergencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Tools/Equipment Used:
Shovels, sander, cut‑off saw, drills, hammer, and other hand or electrical tools and common construction equipment.

Posture:
Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion:
Frequent walking, climbing; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, crawling.

Lifting:
Heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling (80 + pounds) occasionally.

Environment:
Work outside or inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, dirt, sewage, water, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; insects, rodents; may work alone, regular exposure to high heat, fast moving mechanical parts.

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress, occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
