Primary Purpose
Under supervision, performs skilled construction work and operates several types of construction equipment.
QualificationsEducation/Certification/
Experience:
Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
2 + years of industrial/utility construction work experience
High School Diploma/GED
Special Knowledge/SkillsAbility to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Basic math skills
Major Responsibilities and DutiesOther: All essential positions are subject to recall during emergencies
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Shovels, sander, cut-off saw, drills, hammer, and other hand or electrical tools and common construction equipment
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, crawling
Lifting: Heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling (80 + pounds) occasionally
Environment: Work outside or inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, dirt, sewage, water, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; insects, rodents, may work alone, regular exposure to high heat, fast moving mechanical parts
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, occasional prolonged or irregular hours
