Gateway Rehab has an outstanding opportunity for a Treatment Support Technician 3 in our Center Township, PA location. Our technician facilitates programming and assures the integrity of the therapeutic milieu. This position receives frequent supervision and instruction.
DescriptionThis role supports the therapeutic environment by engaging patients in group discussions, monitoring behavior, conducting orientation, and assisting with crisis intervention. The technician ensures accurate documentation, supports medication administration, and facilitates post-discharge referrals under therapist direction.
Responsibilities- Facilitates discussion groups and activities.
- Monitors patient behavior.
- Conducts handbook orientation.
- Conducts searches of patient belongings, rooms, and person.
- Acts as a liaison between clinical staff and patients.
- Assists patients in completion of patient assessment forms.
- Assists with phone calls to family members/friends and referral sources.
- Assists with crises intervention.
- Drives patients to meetings, if applicable.
- Documents involvement with patients in progress notes.
- Collects urine and completes paperwork for drug screening as necessary.
- Provides post-discharge contacts/referrals under therapist direction.
- Monitors medication taken by clients and documents accordingly, if applicable.
- Works in the gift shop, if applicable.
- Manages menu and nutrition needs, if applicable.
- Manages donation and patient requests, if applicable to the location.
- Monitors smoke breaks in the hospital setting, if applicable.
- Completes intake paperwork as needed.
- Monitors clients’ ADLs – including chores, behaviors, and grooming issues.
- Remains on duty until relieved.
- Attends mandatory GRC trainings and in-services.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of 12‑step programs and/or other recovery support and/or addictions preferred.
- Ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to listen to patients without judgment.
- Ability to show empathy and understanding to patients.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Some college.
- PCB Certification.
- At least 2 years previous experience in a mental health or drug and alcohol professional setting.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record which allows the ability to drive patients to and from appointments, support groups, activities or other travel as assigned.
- PA Criminal History Record Check, Childline, and FBI clearances required.
- Pass Drug Screen
- 2‑Step TB Test
- CPR/First Aid training is required.
- This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for GRC residents.
- Required to remain awake and alert while on duty.
- If living a life of recovery, must attest to at least 18 months in recovery from substance use disorder.
- Facility treating those with substance use disorders.
- Favorable working conditions.
- Minimal physical demands.
- Moderate mental demands to respond to patients’ simultaneous requests.
