Front Ensemble (Pit) Coach
Aliso Niguel High School – Marching Band, Drumline & Colorguard
Aliso Niguel High School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Front Ensemble Coach to join our award-winning Marching Band, Drumline, and Colorguard program. We are looking for a dedicated educator who is passionate about teaching young musicians, building strong technique, and contributing to a positive and collaborative rehearsal environment.
Position Overview
The Front Ensemble Coach will be responsible for teaching and developing the pit section of the marching band. This includes instruction in technique, musicianship, ensemble skills, and performance preparation. The ideal candidate has prior experience teaching high school-level front ensemble and is comfortable working in a team-oriented instructional staff.
Responsibilities
· Teach and rehearse the front ensemble (pit) during scheduled practices
· Develop students’ technique on mallet percussion, auxiliary percussion, and electronic instruments
· Assist with music interpretation, performance quality, and show coordination
· Collaborate with the band director and visual/music staff to ensure cohesive instruction
· Provide guidance on equipment setup, maintenance, and best practices
· Support students in preparation for competitions and performances
· Maintain a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment
Schedule
Competition Dates:
Candidates must be available for all rehearsals and competition dates.
Qualifications
· Experience teaching front ensemble/pit at the high school or independent level
· Strong background in percussion performance and pedagogy
· Ability to teach a range of mallet and auxiliary percussion instruments
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents
· Professionalism, reliability, and a passion for music education
