Position Summary

The Lead Diesel Mechanic in Aliso Viejo CA, will be responsible for timely repair and maintenance of light, medium, or heavy‑duty vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles as well as managing employees and garage operations.
** CDL A or B required, will allow time to obtain

Pay: $39.61- $41.11 hr

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Essential Duties:

• Coordinate with the Fleet manager in completing shift work
• Able to supervise 2 or more other employees while working
• Must update work orders, close work orders, and work with drivers
• Must maintain, order, and update parts inventory
• Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare the safety documentation required
• Inspect and perform work on the underparts of vehicles
• Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
• Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on the vehicle
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Perform other duties as required

Key Competencies

• At least 3+ years of experience performing vehicle maintenance, OR capable of diagnosing engine drivability issues and engine repairs such as replacing cylinder heads, injectors, and high-pressure pumps.
• ASE Certifications preferred
• Commercial Driver’s License class “A” or “B “ preferred
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if it is operating properly
• Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
• Knowledge of handheld scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles.
• Ability to read schematics and be familiar with the process
• Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)

Working Conditions

• Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
• Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise.
• Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants
• Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
• Ability to move and position heavy objects.
• Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl to repair vehicles
• Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
