Job Description

Req#: 53430

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

Join our Advanced EV Development (ADVEV) team for a 6-month Student Worker Program and help build the future of mobility! Immerse yourself in Ford's center of innovation and growth, working alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to create groundbreaking EVs and contribute to key technologies like batteries, charging, and recycling. This is your chance to gain hands‑on experience and make a real impact on the automotive industry.

As a Closures Systems Engineer, you’ll use your technical expertise to wholistically drive complex closures design problems to completion. You’ll work amongst the team to scope work, plan requirements, identify risks, estimate budgets, and clearly communicate ongoing progress of the sealing system.

You will be working on a small high performing team that will have a high interaction and collaboration quotient to deliver fully integrated EV vehicle sealing systems that achieve aspirational targets associated with cost, weight, efficiency, and exceed operational tolerances required to deliver the ambitious project scope. Engineering trade‑offs are minimized by the development of solutions and innovations to minimize settling for an inferior product or solution.

This team will be highly technical in nature and will come from engineering and data centric team environments that have had to deliver the holistic end to end engineering life cycle from ideation through design, engineering, test and ensuring efficient industrialization. This environment is not for everyone but will enrich the best talent with the opportunity to perform some of the best work of their careers.

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Currently studying Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • Experience with Catia V5/6, 3DX and or other CAD packages
  • Detailed knowledge of the product development process from design, development, validation and industrialization
  • Knowledge of the materials, processes & technologies used to deliver automotive systems or equivalent products
  • Proven experience driving progress on multiple projects across multiple locations and timelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • An eagerness to work cross‑functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high‑performing team
  • A system approach with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
  • Experience with Confluence and JIRA applications

Even better, you may have..

  • Ability to post‑process CAE data (META, Altair Hyperview, etc.)
  • Experience with kinematic & dynamics modeling (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Experience in an automotive product development environment, or analogous exposure

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

What you’ll receive in return: As part of this exciting program, you’ll enjoy a high level of involvement with an exceptional team of industry innovators and visionaries. You’ll contribute in a meaningful way to our important, breakthrough work. And you’ll develop the skills that’ll give you a significant edge in your future career pursuits. If you have what it takes to help us redefine the future of mobility, we’d love to have you join us.
