THIS POSITION IS FOR THE MIDNIGHT SHIFT

Amentum is the world’s top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers. Customers include major vehicle providers, OEMs, and clients from the international motorsports community.

Amentum designs, builds, operates, maintains, and manages a variety of automotive test facilities, such as climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels, emissions test rooms, soak rooms, altitude chambers, engine and powertrain test cells, and electromagnetic anechoic chambers.

Technician will be working in a vehicle emissions testing facility in Allen Park. This facility applies numerous testing methods and data acquisition software to support and conduct a variety of Engine, Powertrain, and Durability Tests

Responsibilities
  • Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of emission related components. Building electrical cables, repairing electrical connectors, and modifying electrical breakout boxes.
  • Calibrating and maintaining emission testing instrumentation, such as smoke meters and opacity meters.
  • Supporting development and durability special testing and troubleshooting in an engine dynamometer facility.
  • Interface with Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates/new test procedures, equipment and methods.
  • Verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems.
  • Hook up instrumentation, diagnose / troubleshoot problems, conduct tests, change out components if necessary, and remove instrumentation as needed.
  • Testing equipment includes emission benches, fuel flow meters, smoke meters, pressure transducers, torque meters, accelerometers, and thermocouples.

This is a midnight shift position: 11:30 p – 7 a.

It is also subject to being changed from time to time based on project demands.

There is a shift differential paid for the midnight shift.

Qualifications

High School Diploma required.

Minimum of two (2) years of related experience or vocational training.

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in automotive technology or electronics related field.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in engines/powertrain dynamometer testing or other similar testing techniques.
  • Basic background in engine electronics troubleshooting.
  • Horiba analyzer experience.
  • Exhaust sample flow experience.
  • Knowledge of Horiba gas analyzer calibration, and ability to read schematics/wiring diagrams and flow charts.
  • Understanding of how DMMs, oscopes, and other electronic testing devices are used.
  • Understanding of instrumentation used in an automotive test environment, such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers.
  • Good interpersonal, computer, oral and written skill.

    Must pass PMHV licensing and possess a valid driver’s license.

    Midnight shift assignment is subject to change; candidate must be flexible with available work hours. Overtime weekend work is possible and may become mandatory depending on testing needs.
