Equipment Associate

Equipment Associate will have the opportunity to learn and support the day-to-day operations of the Detroit Lions Equipment Department. This role will assist with equipment needs during practices, training camp, and games, gaining hands‑on experience in a professional football operations environment. This is a full‑time, paid internship requiring approximately 60 hours per week, including all home games, select away games, and occasional weekends and holidays.

The internship will begin in April 2026 and conclude at the end of the 2026/2027 season, with potential for extension into the postseason. The position is primarily based at the Meijer Performance Center, with occasional work at Ford Field.

• Assist in Daily Flow of Laundry Process
• Pick Up, Processing, and Distribution to all Locker Rooms
• Equipment Maintenance
• Assist with upkeep of Coaches & Staff Locker Room and toiletries counter
• Assist with upkeep of Players Locker Room, Bathroom, and Sauna
• Assist at practice and games as needed
• Assist with weekly packing for all games
• Responsible for Practice Field setup and breakdown
• Maintenance and upkeep of Practice Field equipment
• Assist with issuing Player equipment and clothing
• Assist with Locker Room setup and pack up for both home and away games
• Team Ball Boy on gameday
• Attend various teaching sessions given by full‑time staff
• Helmet fitting, Shoulder Pad fitting, Footwear, and Laundry

• Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and people skills
• Will adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands
• Will keep appropriate information confidential
• Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing.

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 100lbs.
• Must be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period.
• Must be able to move around practice facility which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
• Ability to run and participate in the physical activities involved in practice and game situations

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 2 year of football experience required
• Must be A.E.M.A. certified or working towards certification
• Candidate must have the ability to work with a flexible schedule, including being available for major scheduled events on nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must provide own transportation and housing
• Ability and willingness to learn new equipment and systems
• Ability to function in high pressure situations
• Ability to follow systems and safety guidelines
