Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance, data analysis, and reporting of infection trends.
- Educate and train staff on infection control practices and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders, department heads, and employee health to prevent healthcare-associated infections and manage exposure events.
- Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate reporting to local and state health departments.
- Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention Committee activities.
- Monitor environmental cleaning, sterilization, and disinfection practices to ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols.
- Review and interpret infection prevention data to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, promoting best practices in infection control and patient safety.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required;
Master's preferred. - Current RN license in Pennsylvania.
- 5+ years of clinical nursing experience; prior infection prevention experience preferred.
- Completion of an approved infection control course (within one year of hire if not already completed).
- BLS certification required.
- Membership in APIC or SHEA preferred.
