The Role & What You Will Be DoingEvery day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Technical Innovation & Solutions Lead role will make an impact:
Hands‑on Programming- Design and develop customized reports and applications in R and R Shiny for monitoring and both planned analyses and data exploration across clinical trials.
- Identify, design, and implement technical solutions that improve efficiency and scalability, leading initiatives from proof of concept to business adoption to deliver measurable value.
- Lead the continuous improvement and implementation of technical processes, workflows and tools, in close collaboration with other biometry team leaders.
- Establish and promote best practices for coding standards, version control, and automation across biometry teams.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, industry standards, and innovations in programming and data science.
- Business owner for Posit platform.
- Partner with clinical science, data management, programming, and biostatistics to identify and prioritize high‑impact technical initiatives.
- Act as the primary technical interface to IT for biometry innovation topics.
- Advocate for and support the adoption of modern programming approaches (e.g., R, Python) in biometry, including organizing targeted training.
- Lead, mentor and collaborate with a small team of technical specialists (R/Shiny developers, data scientists and statistical programmers) who support biometry innovation initiatives.
For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
- 8+ years within a pharmaceutical company or CRO.
- Proven ability to program and oversee statistical analyses using clinical trial data (SDTM and ADaM), with a strong understanding of clinical trial analysis workflows and regulatory‑compliant processes.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with R:
- Advanced R programming skills, beyond knowledge of packages like dplyr and ggplot2 (required).
- Hands‑on expertise in designing and building professional Shiny applications for statistical analysis, visualization and review of clinical trial data (required).
- Ability to create reproducible reports using RMarkdown and/or Quarto (required).
- Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS).
- Strategic and technical leadership:
- 3+ years experience leading technical projects.
- Ability to act as a technical authority: challenge requirements, push back on non‑viable requests, and make trade‑offs when needed.
- Proven ability to articulate and defend innovative technical approaches in discussions with IT and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple projects in parallel.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal skills, and collaborative communication style;
English proficiency at an advanced level.
