Operational activities - Customer Service

Job Summary

Responsible for managing existing customer relationships, addressing operational problems, monitoring and reporting KPIs, planning deployment of equipment and drivers, and providing shipment advice in line with company guidelines. Work may involve day, evening, night and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Act as contact person for customers for operational questions and problems.
  • Resolve operational questions and collaborate with other departments when needed.
  • Monitor progress and handling of deviating services and products (e.g., rush orders, special treatments) and coordinate terms with the manager.
  • Identify and follow up on sales opportunities with customers and forward them to the manager.
  • Maintain, monitor and report KPIs.
  • Handle customer complaints, record agreements made, and monitor their progress; consult the manager if necessary.
  • Plan deployment of equipment and drivers in accordance with rules and guidelines.
  • Plan incoming and outgoing goods and orders; issue transport orders to assigned carriers.
  • Prioritize order release.
  • Prepare schedules according to general operating instructions.
  • Identify work problems, solve them or report them to the manager.
  • Communicate with drivers and coordinate with internal and external departments.
  • Advise customers on shipment options based on information from internal operational departments.
  • Check and/or test driver procedures and take action if necessary.
  • Receive customs documents and manage their handling.
  • Create and archive files; ensure correct registration of data in the system.
  • Draw up transport and customs documents.
  • Evaluate processes and SLAs, identify quality improvement areas, and report them to the manager.
  • Conform to the STS‑QSE policy and management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 22000).
Qualifications
  • MBO+ working and thinking level.
  • Knowledge of forwarding, transport and logistics.
  • Experience with commercial administrative work.
  • Air freight / security awareness employee (if applicable).
  • Knowledge of office applications.
  • For Dutch nationals:
    Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the municipality. For non‑Dutch nationals: equivalent document from competent authorities.
  • Fluent Dutch; spoken English and German required; written English and German advantageous.
  • Persuasive communication and customer orientation.
  • Problem‑solving ability.
