Position: Accounts Senior Manager / Director / Partner
BC Financial Search is working with an established and growing accountancy practice in Bolton that is looking to make a key senior appointment within its leadership team. The firm is deliberately flexible around level and would consider an experienced Senior Manager, Director or Partner, depending on the individual. This is predominantly an accounts and business services focused position. The successful candidate will initially take responsibility for a client portfolio of approximately £600k, while becoming increasingly involved in the wider leadership, development and growth of the Bolton office.

The practice has dedicated Audit and Tax teams, meaning this role is not about being a specialist in every area. Instead, the successful individual will take ownership of key client relationships, understand their wider requirements and involve the firm's specialist teams where appropriate. There is significant scope for the role to develop over time, including potential share-based growth incentives for more senior appointments.

Duties and responsibilities Manage and develop a substantial portfolio of owner-managed businesses and corporate clients. Act as a senior point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships and providing commercially focused advice. Oversee the delivery of accounts and wider business services work across the portfolio. Review work completed by members of the team and ensure work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales.

Work closely with Managers and junior team members, supporting their technical and professional development. Play an active role in the management and development of the Bolton office and wider team. Help manage workloads, workflow and client delivery across the department. Identify opportunities where clients may benefit from additional services including Tax, Audit and specialist advisory support. Develop existing client relationships and support the continued growth of the practice.

Build relationships with prospective clients and the wider business community where appropriate. Work alongside the existing leadership team on the future development and direction of the office. For more senior candidates, take on broader strategic and commercial responsibilities as the position develops. Experience and qualifications Significant experience working within an accountancy practice environment. Strong experience managing a portfolio of accounts and business services clients.

ACA or ACCA qualification would be preferred, although highly experienced qualified-by-experience candidates may also be considered. Previous experience managing and developing staff. Strong client relationship and communication skills. Comfortable advising owner-managed businesses and senior stakeholders. Commercially minded, with the ability to recognise opportunities to develop client relationships. Experience at Senior Manager, Director or Partner level would be particularly relevant, although the firm is open to individuals ready to make their next step.

An interest in becoming involved in the wider leadership and growth of an accountancy practice. Benefits Salary of approximately £70,000 – £100,000 depending on experience and level.
