Patient Scheduling Representative- Home Care

Summary

This position is responsible for scheduling patient appointments in multiple departments and medical centers/clinics for clinical diagnostic or therapeutic exams. This position requires the collection of accurate demographic, insurance and diagnostic data elements. This position also requires a broad knowledge of scheduling, registration and payer requirements necessary to secure payment.

  * Assesses scheduling duties in a manner that ensures timely and accurate allocation of staff.

  * Plans allocation of staff based on level of competency, client needs and staff availability.

  * Implements work procedures, scheduling systems and effective internal and external communication to provide for efficient operations within the department.

  * Evaluates effectiveness of scheduling, staffing needs and communication via required reports for Private Duty, Nursing Administration and other Medical Center/Nursing Departments, as required.
• Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement as required by the Health System and the job description.
• Understands and is accountable for the Health System's customer service program.

• Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures. Participates in equipment in-services and competencies as they relate to role expectations.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
• Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
• Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
• Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
• Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow My Michigan Health blood borne pathogen and TB testing as required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
• Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
• Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
