Claim Technical Assistant (Workers' Compensation)

Location:

Alpharetta, GA (Southeast Region)

Position Overview

As a member of the Workers’ Compensation Claim Team, the Technical Assistant I provides advanced technical support throughout the claim handling process, ensuring superior customer service and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist examiners as needed to facilitate appropriate compensability decisions.
  • Maintain active file diaries to track and ensure completion of delegated tasks.
  • Understand jurisdictional benefit rates and payment deadlines to ensure compliance with state-specific time frames.
  • Accurately document claim activities in file notes.
  • Prepare high-quality documentation in a timely manner, including benefit notices, nurse and legal referrals, record requests, and settlement documents.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to internal and external customer inquiries regarding claims.
  • Ensure adherence to state regulations for GA, MS, AL, TN, FL, SC, NC, VA, WV, DE, DC, MD, and PA.
  • Follow Chubb’s Best Practice guidelines in all claim handling activities.
  • Collaborate with relevant resources to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Manage an inventory of direct handle pension and/or lifetime medical files.
  • Work collaboratively with regional peers to ensure adequate coverage during vacations or absences.
Qualifications

Competencies / Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated superior customer service with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, and interpret information effectively.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and complete assignments efficiently.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic environment, meeting or exceeding state and customer expectations.
  • Capable of working independently and efficiently, performing defined functions with minimal errors.
  • Basic understanding of Workers’ Compensation and claim handling processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of state EDI systems and/or IAIABC practices is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Claim adjuster licenses in GA, FL, NC, SC, WV, and DE preferred, but not required at the time of hire. Candidates must be eligible to obtain these licenses within 90 days of employment.
  • College degree is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience in workers compensation claims is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and bill payment processes is preferred but not required.
