Job SummaryTebarco is seeking a highly skilled BIM Plumbing Designer III (in-office) to support our design, coordination, and field teams in delivering top-tier plumbing projects. The BIM Designer will utilize advanced BIM software to create, manage, and coordinate 3D models of plumbing systems, ensuring clash-free designs and accurate shop drawings. This role requires collaboration with engineers, project managers, and field superintendents to bridge the gap between office planning and on-site execution.
Responsibilities- 3D Modeling & Coordination:
Develop detailed 3D models of plumbing systems from engineered drawings with minimal supervision. Use software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks to ensure full coordination with other trades. - Shop Drawings & Documentation:
Produce shop drawings, spool drawings, and fabrication-ready models to support prefabrication and field installation. - Clash Detection:
Perform clash detection and interference checks, generating reports and collaborating with project teams to resolve spatial conflicts before construction. - Collaboration:
Participate in real-time coordination meetings (e.g., via Microsoft Teams) and maintain project documentation on TMC’s file server or client-preferred platforms (Bluebeam, Procore, etc.). - Field Integration:
Work with field superintendents to provide digital construction layouts for tools like Trimble robotic total stations and mobile applications on iPads. - Standards Compliance:
Adhere to and help develop TMC’s BIM standards and workflows, contributing to continuous improvement of processes and templates. - Support Project Teams:
Assist engineers and estimators with conceptual designs, cost estimates, and design-build deliverables as needed. - Leadership:
Help mentor and manage less experienced BIM Designers with knowledge and skills gained from working in the industry. Report to BIM Manager.
- Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in BIM modeling or as design engineer, preferably in mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing systems. Any additional field experience is valued. - Technical Skills:
Expert in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. Familiarity with Fabrication CADmep, Bluebeam, Trimble layout tools, and other relevant software is a plus. - Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, CAD Drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. - Knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes, trade coordination, and field layout techniques. Experience with design-build projects is preferred. - Soft Skills:
Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively with diverse project stakeholders. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to visit job sites if needed for surveys or coordination (valid driver’s license required).
