AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Inspector to join the SR 400 Express Lanes Owner Verification (OV) team in Alpharetta, GA. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a landmark infrastructure initiative—adding two express lanes in each direction along a 16-mile corridor from I-285 in Sandy Springs to north of the Fulton/Forsyth County line. This $4.6 Billion project also includes the construction or replacement of over twenty-five bridges and four Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations and is managed under GDOT’s first Public-Private Partnership (P3) Concession Transportation Project.
As part of a collocated team under GDOT’s management, the Environmental Compliance Inspector will serve as part of the Owner’s oversight team, responsible for auditing and verifying environmental compliance inspections conducted by the Developer. This role ensures the project meets all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as contract-specific environmental commitments and permit conditions.
This position reports directly to the Environmental OV Manager and offers the opportunity to work on one of the most complex and high-profile transportation projects in the country.

Monday through Friday, daytime hours. - Company truck is provided for site inspections.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct independent compliance audits of Developer-performed environmental inspections and documentation.
- Review Developer’s Environmental Compliance Reports, inspection logs, and corrective action records for accuracy and completeness.
- Verify implementation of approved Comprehensive Environmental Protection Plan (CEPP), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and erosion/sediment control measures.
- Conduct field inspections to observe environmental practices and confirm compliance with applicable permits, including NPDES, Section 404/401.
- Track and document findings; issue audit reports with clear, actionable recommendations.
- Coordinate with Environmental OV Manager, construction teams, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Support environmental incident response and participate in lessons‑learned reviews.
- Maintain organized records and assist in compliance reporting to Owner and oversight agencies.
