Configuration Management Engineer

Base Pay Range

$90,000.00/yr - $/yr

Position can be located in Alpharetta, GA, or Ruckersville, VA. Occasional travel to either location or to manufacturing facilities may be necessary to fulfill business needs and support various projects and initiatives.

The Configuration Management Engineer/Product Engineer is the vital link between Engineering and Operations. Working throughout the organization, this position will be responsible for releasing new product developments as well as upgrades to existing products. The Configuration Management Engineer/Product Engineer will work with teams to deliver world class solutions, ensuring compliance to specification, configuration management, integration into existing systems, and validation of product design.

Applications include innovative energy storage, battery accessories, electro‑mechanical devices, vehicular platforms, etc. which will require the candidate to possess leadership skills and flexibility.

• Utilize the Product Life Cycle (PLC) process to manage new products from cradle-to-grave
• Manage items and product configurations at all levels and coordinate the development of Bill of Material (BOM) using the Arena PLM tool
• Prepare and submit Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) for approval to release design changes to Operations
• Transmit released part design changes and Technical Data Packages (TDP’s) to the Technical Data Center for use by Operations, Finance and Quality stakeholders
• Provide Manufacturing BOMs to Finance for entry into the JDE ERP system
• Develop timelines for Product Engineering tasks and inform management of performance against plan as part of the PLC process
• Act as technical resource for all enquiries coming from Business Development or Program Management in matters related to products
• Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve the PLC process
• Coordinate and communicate development schedules or design issues throughout the team continuously
• Work in concert with the product design engineers to ensure technical documentation meets requirements
• Review and resolve issues associated with manufacturing, quality, and internal customer expectations
• Additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and company goals.

• Act as PM for projects related to product changes and/or updates required by component obsolescence, component changes, manufacturing improvements, etc. for released products (in Production lifecycle)
• Communicate between the project team and the stakeholders
• Act as PM with other departments within the company to ensure others have the necessary information required to meet the projects requirements
• Follow-up actions between progress review meetings
• Participate into the Phase Gate and PLC processes and overall commercial strategy

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Experience working in a product development environment or related engineering role preferred
• License to practice as a Professional Engineer considered an asset
• Experience and understanding of one or several of the following areas is considered an asset: product development cycle in a defense, automotive or industrial environment, lithium energy storage, power and electronics, battery energy storage systems (BESS), quality assurance protocols, design-to-cost methodology, military or commercial standards, proof-of‑compliance and safety testing
• Relevant Experience in Change Management (ECR, ECO)

• Strong ability to work with multiple products/projects and track product life cycle from planning through launch
• Strong interpersonal relationship and leadership skills
• Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications / technical requirements
• Strong knowledge of QMS, ISO, industry standards, military or commercial standards and associated procedures is considered an asset
