Mechanical Engineer - Contract

Stryten Energy, based in Alpharetta, GA, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and document Li‑Ion Batteries for Motive Power applications.

Overview

We partner with customers to identify their needs and deliver the best solution, focusing on battery technology including lead, lithium, and vanadium redox flow systems.

The role includes designing, developing, and enhancing Li‑Ion product solutions that are cost‑effective, reliable, efficient, and durable. You will work within a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering team to create products for diverse applications.

Responsibilities

Assessing a design brief to gauge the design requirements.

  • Conducting and/or using research on user experience and needs, current market trends, and general functionality
  • Developing solutions that solve user problems
  • Determining whether a design solution is user‑friendly, cost‑effective, and environmentally friendly
  • Creating multiple iterations of design prototypes using Solid Works CAD tools
  • Conducting rigorous usability tests and modifying the product based on the test results
  • Evaluating design solutions against industry standards and regulations
  • Vendor development support
  • Other duties as assigned
Technical Data Management
  • Capability to manage and control the configuration of technical data in Solid Works PDM
  • Bill‑of‑material (BOM) creation and update
  • Implementing technical data management within the requirements of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Qualifications Education, Experience, Certifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3‑5 years of experience in mechanical design. Prior internship in Li‑Ion considered
  • A minimum of 1,000 hours using Solid Works and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Competencies, Skills, Knowledge
  • Good understanding of mechanical principles, tolerancing, and strength of materials
  • Experience using GD&T per ASME Y14.5‑2009 is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated creative problem‑solving skills
  • Creative ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Experience managing UL or other certifications a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in current manufacturing processes, including weldments, sheet metal, and injection molding
Environment & Physical Demands
  • This position requires you to be on site at our Alpharetta, GA Headquarters location
  • Office work, product development, and manufacturing environments
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods while working on a computer, as well as standing and walking during meetings and site visits
  • The role may require occasional visits to manufacturing sites, where you will need to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Travel
  • Travel as required to meet business needs
