Apply to the Underwriting Auditor role at IFG Companies
. This position conducts rigorous underwriting reviews, identifies auditing trends, and collaborates with Underwriting Teams to implement recommended process changes and improvements. The analyst also compiles quality assurance results for the CUO, underwriting management, individual underwriters, and senior leadership, including the CEO and Chair of IFG Companies.

Base Pay Range

Position Responsibilities
  • Refine the Quality Underwriting Assurance Program, including protocols, reporting templates, procedures, and the annual schedule.
  • Objectively and independently review and assess underwriters’ adherence to documented guidelines across all aspects of underwriting (authority, pricing strategies, terms and conditions, processes, and file documentation) for primary casualty, excess casualty, inland marine, bind property and casualty, and garage product lines.
  • Evaluate application of underwriting judgment, risk assessment, risk containment, rate development, pricing decisions, and terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with the CUO and other members of underwriting management to provide guidance, feedback, recommendations, and identify training needs and opportunities.
  • Assist in crafting and presenting training material to address gaps found during underwriting audits.
  • Participate in strategic and special projects and underwriting initiatives.
  • Communicate recommendations for specific procedural and system changes to the CUO and underwriting management.
  • Collaborate with senior management, product development, actuarial teams, and other underwriting functions to create integrated strategies for improving internal controls.
  • Work with underwriting management and actuaries to perform analytics – including underwriting trends, loss ratios, expense ratios, book‑of‑business demographics, and other compliance metrics.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Working knowledge of product lines underwritten by IFG Companies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of sound underwriting principles, practices, policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, reasoning, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, SharePoint) and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Must become proficient in all IFG systems applicable to underwriting.
Education / Experience / Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 15 years of property/casualty underwriting experience (required).
  • Substantial commercial non‑admitted experience (excess and surplus lines) (required).
  • A Plus: CPCU or other recognized insurance industry certifications or designations.
Physical Demands
  • Physical demands are that of a climate‑controlled office environment, with minimal physical exertion.
  • Hybrid position requiring presence at an IFG Companies office at least three (3) days per week.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, extensive computer use, and interpersonal interaction via phone or in person.
  • Requires willingness to travel as business needs dictate.
