Position Summary

ASI Group is seeking a Laser Programmer/Operator to program and operate CNC fiber laser cutting machines. This position creates efficient nesting layouts, optimizes material utilization, and supports production to ensure high-quality parts are produced safely, accurately, and on schedule. The successful candidate will play an important role in the accurate and timely processing of materials while maintaining high quality standards.

Schedule

Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

  • Develop and create computer programs for laser machines based on engineering drawings, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Create and optimize nesting layouts to maximize material yield and minimize scrap.
  • Select appropriate laser parameters, including power, speed, and focal length, for various materials and thicknesses.
  • Perform machine setup and calibration to ensure precise alignment and accuracy of the laser beam.
  • Operate and monitor laser machines during production runs to ensure optimal performance and adherence to programmed paths.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and make necessary program adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production supervisors to optimize processes and improve production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laser programming, machine performance, and material processing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser machines and tables.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Stay current with advancements in laser technology and programming techniques.
  • Operate a forklift daily to load and unload material for the laser.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Laser Programmer or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and laser programming software.
  • Strong understanding of laser technology, including different laser types and their applications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience setting up and calibrating laser machines for precise material processing.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under tight production schedules.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards in manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical certification or vocational training in laser technology or a related field.
  • Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software.
  • Additional language skills.
Physical Requirements

This position requires a moderate to high degree of standing, walking, stooping or kneeling, precision eye work, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Good hand dexterity, hearing, vision, and the ability to differentiate color are essential. Repetitive motions using the hands and/or feet may be required. Must be able to move product weighing up to 50 pounds, wear required personal protective equipment, and work indoors in environmentally non-controlled conditions.
