At the North American Mission Board (NAMB) we’re more than a nonprofit organization — we’re a family united by faith, equipping individuals and churches to share the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Across North America, millions have yet to hear this good news. Through partnerships with local churches, NAMB plants new churches in unreached neighborhoods throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico bringing light, love, and lasting change.
NAMB is funded by the Southern Baptist Convention. Since 2010, Southern Baptists have planted over 10,000 churches transforming communities for eternity.
This position supports NAMB’s ministry objectives by cultivating individual donors to increase mid‑level gifts and long‑term partnerships. Through collaboration with the NAMB and SR development leadership and team, this role will work to achieve fundraising goals and ensure consistent mission and program messaging.
Key Areas of Responsibility- Achieves and maintains a solid working knowledge of NAMB and Send Relief ministries and can effectively articulate each entity both verbally and in writing.
- Manages the cultivation and development of 400 current and prospective individual donor relationships to build a pipeline for mid‑level gifts.
- Qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards relationships with current and prospective individual donors through excellent planning and strategic development activities via phone, email, mail and in‑person visits.
- Involves the giver in meaningful and documented gift strategy discussions. This includes both outright gifts and deferred giving options such as cash gifts, stock, real estate transfers, bequests, and other giving methods.
- Writes, assembles, and submits funding requests, solicitation letters, acknowledgments, and stewardship reports on a timely basis.
- Develops growth strategies for new and current individual donors and sets annual goals.
- Actively works to discover new giving prospects through internal and external sources.
- Stewards and acknowledges gifts in a timely and personally appropriate manner, ensuring that donors understand the significance of their gifts while feeling valued and connected to the ministry.
- Networks with SBC foundation personnel and relevant corporate giving peers to introduce NAMB and Send Relief to prospective new mid‑level donors.
- Maintains timely records of all constituent activity in Raiser’s Edge.
- Participates in internal development team meetings and other organizational meetings as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of donors’ information and interactions.
- Travel 20‑30 days per year.
- Undergraduate degree required.
- Five years or more of successful experience in non‑profit fund‑raising and cultivation of mid‑level or major gifts preferably in a Southern Baptist Convention‑affiliated organization.
- Evidence of a mature and growing Christian walk characterized by Paul, in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Personal wisdom and sufficiency grounded in Christ and the word of God, with a life submitted to God’s authority in all things.
- Models a daily soul‑winning lifestyle.
- Effectively leads others in prayer.
- Gives regularly and generously to the work of the church.
- Readily applies scripture to personal and professional situations.
- Can articulate Baptist theological understandings on a range of issues.
- Conducts ministry in keeping with the principles and spirit of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- Enjoys healthy, affirming relationships with spouse, family, neighbors and friends.
- Exhibits integrity in professional and personal life.
- Modest in dress and deportment, making a favorable first impression.
- Aware of personal strengths and shortcomings, potential, psychological needs, biases and prejudices, and actively solicits and benefits from constructive criticism.
- Personal finances in order, with no oppressive burden of consumer debt.
- Active member of a local Southern Baptist church.
- Demonstrates a high level of energy, bright positivity, warmth and genuine interest in people.
