🌟 About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to support leadership operations within a fast-paced Emergency Department. This role is ideal for a clinically strong RN who is ready to grow into formal nursing leadership and make a meaningful impact on patient care, staff development, and operational excellence.

Working closely with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager plays a critical role in day-to-day unit leadership, staff engagement, quality outcomes, and resource management—while developing the skills needed for future Nurse Manager advancement.

🩺 What You’ll Do

Leadership & Unit Support

  • Partner with the Nurse Manager to lead daily operations of the Emergency Department.
  • Serve as a visible, supportive leader for charge nurses and frontline staff.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the Nurse Manager’s absence.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.

Staff Development & Engagement

  • Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff through feedback and performance guidance.
  • Participate in staff evaluations, counseling, and professional development planning.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
  • Encourage shared governance and staff involvement in decision-making.

Quality, Safety & Outcomes

  • Support delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered emergency care.
  • Hold staff accountable to clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in change management and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and performance improvement projects.

Operations & Resource Management

  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and workflow optimization.
  • Support budget development and fiscal responsibility for the unit.
  • Apply Lean and quality principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Use data and metrics to support operational and clinical decision-making.

Professional Growth

  • Actively develop leadership, communication, and management competencies.
  • Participate in professional organizations and leadership education opportunities.
  • Represent the organization positively within the community and healthcare network.
🎓 Education & Licensure

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Single State or Multi-State Compact)
  • BLS Certification (AHA or Instructor)

Preferred:

  • National certification in Nursing Administration
💼 Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Emergency Department experience strongly preferred
  • Prior charge nurse or informal leadership experience is a plus
