Position: Real Time Information Center Operation/Analyst

Under direction of the Real Time Information Center Sergeant, the Real‑Time Information Center Operator is responsible for using information, data, and analysis to provide real‑time information and support to department operational personnel. Utilizing radio communications platforms, and real‑time information center software, including but not limited to, license plate reader and camera systems, the RTIC Operator will collect, analyze, and report information and data for real‑time situational awareness.

In addition, the RTIC Operator will be an Unmanned Aerial System Pilot as part of the agency’s unmanned aerial system as a first responder program.

This position is a non‑exempt.

Use of Radio Communications and Computer System
  • Operates radios and computer terminals to receive and transmit information.
  • Monitors an integrated systems platform that combines 911 calls for service from the 911 Dispatch Center in designated priorities.
  • Operates national/state criminal information computer systems to retrieve/update criminal information and motor vehicle/license records; locates, runs inquiries, and enters updates on data such as criminal histories, warrants, driver’s license records, stolen property, or missing/wanted persons. Such systems include but are not limited, National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC).
  • Inputs, accesses, and queries data in various County, State, and Federal computer systems, including but not limited to, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Police Record Systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Conducts searches through various databases to gather pertinent information on events, people, locations, and vehicles as needed.
  • Sources real‑time video footage gathers intelligence information from databases, and communicates with Police Officers, often during high‑stress situations.
  • Tracks evolving situations, assists in identification of possible persons and vehicles of interest, locates fleeing vehicles, and calls for additional resources when on‑scene personnel are unable to do so.
Use of Camera Systems and Unmanned Aerial Systems
  • Proactively monitors the camera systems for public safety situations that are equal in priority to designated calls for service and communicates such situations upon observation.
  • Monitors traffic management and facility infrastructure security cameras to provide situational awareness to responding resources during in‑progress incidents.
  • Maintains and operates mobile camera assets and other equipment as needed.
  • Assists in requests for video evidence during/after critical incidents as well as post incident investigations and public information requests.
  • Pilots Unmanned Aerial Systems.
Dissemination of Information
  • Comprehends and makes inferences from written material including bulletins and intelligence information; integrates training, experience, and knowledge to identify potentially dangerous situations.
  • Prepares written reports with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar that meets police report writing guidelines.
  • Attends training and studies current literature on research methodology, police issues, and current law enforcement technology to provide recommendations for improvements in Real Time Information Center practices.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
