DESCRIPTIONOur Maintenance Technician – Electrical supports Mativ’s Sustainability & Adhesives Solutions function. This individual will help maintain production and quality by ensuring the operation of mechanical and electronic manufacturing equipment. The individuals that hold this position are self-starters who can work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment both individually and alongside a team of Mechanical and Electrical Technicians.
RESPONSIBILITIESThis job requires being "on call" nights and weekends on a rotating basis.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs all electrical equipment, wiring and controls which are necessary to maintain all production machines and facility functions operating at specified levels.
- Analyzes wiring diagrams. Follows instructions from the supervisor and implements emergency and scheduled repairs. Completes both electrical and mechanical installations and/or repairs. Conducts electrical inspections and initiates repairs as necessary per code.
- Services equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components (circuit breakers, switches, lighting receptacles, motors, electrical heating equipment, etc.) per code.
- Periodically does visual walk-through inspection of company facilities and of all equipment.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance to electrical, electro-mechanical and mechanical systems (inspects contacts, tightens connections and executes all repairs and calibrations as necessary).
- Plans and lays out wiring for various installations, retrofits, etc.
- Can troubleshoot and repair all electrical failures and electro-mechanical problems such as motorized actuators, drive faults and PLC issues.
- Performs preventative maintenance on facility and manufacturing equipment with other Maintenance personnel.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Connecticut Electrician's license (E-1).
- Executes all electrical work per local and state codes.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the electrician trade.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting electrical motors and drive components, motorized actuators, switches and relays etc.
- Operator controls and interfaces.
- Knowledge of PLC software and ability to troubleshoot PLCs
- Knowledge of ladder logic for troubleshooting and Operator Interfaces
- Mechanical aptitude to work with other Maintenance Personnel.
- Requires own tools (electrical and mechanical).
Conditions are those of a manufacturing environment:
- Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:
- Safety Glasses
- Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks
- Hearing Protection, when required
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must meet the physical demands:
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Be able to push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.
- Be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
