Fleet Mechanic

Full Time GA, GA, US

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet Mechanic to join our growing team. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong work ethic, a dedication to safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a fleet of heavy-duty trucks (primarily International and Freightliner) equipped with specialized Altec and Terex equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on a variety of heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, electrical, hydraulic, and other vehicle systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and electronic systems, including reading and interpreting diagnostic codes.
  • Order and receive parts in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance services.
  • Repair and replace hydraulic hoses, cables, and other components.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and safety procedures.
  • Provide on-site and roadside assistance to drivers as needed.
  • Travel extensively throughout the region (Jonesboro, Alpharetta, and Tifton, GA), requiring approximately 80% travel per week.
  • Work weekends as needed to support electrical operations.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic with a strong emphasis on International and Freightliner trucks equipped with Altec and Terex equipment.
  • Possession of relevant industry certifications (e.g., ASE, CDL, etc.).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of reading and interpreting diagnostic codes.
  • Proficiency in repairing hydraulic systems, including hoses and cables.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the designated region.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Work Environment:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; vibration; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
