The Master Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting on hair care needs, and recommending products and services. The Master Stylist delivers quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance (service sales and productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards).

This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

• Performance: Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, hair treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Sales & Productivity: Meet or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1,250 in average hair service sales and productivity goals by delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.

  Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Brand & Events: Support the execution of in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Knowledge & Trends: Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work time and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Attendance: Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

• People: Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
• Guest Service: Serve all guests, including walk-in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.

  Develop partnerships with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store guest experience.
• Relationships: Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships to collaboratively deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Loyalty: Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests in the salon and salesfloor.
• Training: Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.

• Process: Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Safety & Sanitation: Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures; ensure compliance with state board guidelines.
• Service Protocols: Follow established service protocols to ensure consistent and exceptional guest experiences.
• Booking & Clientele: Utilize booking and clientele systems to book guests for return services and events.
• Supply Needs: Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Operations & Cleanliness: Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and other areas.
• Dress Code & Asset Protection: Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and protect company assets using loss prevention best practices.
• Other Tasks: Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license

• Previous relevant work experience is required

• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for hair cutting, coloring, lightening, styling, texture, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable) or aptitude to develop skills across service categories.
