Waste Water Technician

This position is a union position with Illinois American Water and the starting pay rate is $32.34 per hour.

Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.

-3:30 p.m. Weekend & On-call Rotation Rotational Overtime Flexibility required due to covering 5:00 a.m.

-1:30 p.m. shift.

• Duties will include those necessary to maintain and ensure reliable operation of wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations.
• Maintenance tasks will be of a highly technical nature including work on pumps, chemical feed systems, and controls.
• The successful candidate will be given tasks that require electrical, mechanical and wastewater facilities knowledge in addition to operations of heavy equipment including a forklift, front loader, dump truck and any other duties as assigned by management.

• Strong work ethic, time management, communication, organizational and team membership skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good mechanical skills.
• Position requires the ability to lift 75lbs. Computer literacy required.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. 0-2 years minimum in wastewater industry preferred.

• Must obtain and maintain an Illinois IEPA Wastewater Class 4 after 2 year, Class 3 after 3 years, Class 2 after 5 years and a Class 1 after 7 years of hire or transfer.
• Must obtain and maintain a Class B CDL and applicable endorsements along with DOT Medical Card within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR.

Work is outside year-round in all weather conditions.
