Cable Technician

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor (i.e., monument), modular furniture (surface mount box), and wall (box eliminator).
• Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method, route cable through modular furniture.
• Perform pre‑termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables, determine length and slack, and label cables.
• Suspend and support cable correctly using cable tray, J‑hook, D‑rings, Bridal rings, or Trapeze.
• Build closets – mount and install backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
• Perform fire‑stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.
• Terminate low‑voltage devices.

• Proven skill level in cable installation, punchdown, structured cabling, and low‑voltage termination.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication; perform work at heights, on ladders, in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and move up to 75 lb.
• Color vision, ability to read small print, hear audible signals such as dial tones.
• Willingness to travel within branch or regional territory as needed.

Intermediate Level

Contract position based out of Altoona, IA.

Pay range: $18.00–$22.00 per hour.
