Overview

Shift Available:
Sunday - Friday | 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM or

Monday - Thursday | 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Salary: $30.25 - $34.25/hour

Responsibilities

Trailer Mechanics perform maintenance services ensuring work volume and quality meet Dayton Freight Lines standards.

  • Fundamental understanding of repairing and rebuilding components on 48ft. and 53ft. dry van trailers, including:
    • Suspension and running gear components
    • Landing gear assembly and components
    • Wheel components and tires
    • Brake and air components
    • Electrical, lighting, and wiring components
    • Rear frame and door components
    • Side, nose, and roof components
    • Interior and floor components
  • Able to perform Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs thoroughly
  • Maintain high welding and metal fabrication skills
  • Perform service calls
  • Wash and fuel equipment as necessary
  • Road test vehicles to ensure quality repairs (dependent on having a CDL)
  • Maintain a positive attitude and interact courteously and professionally with colleagues
  • Assist and guide junior technicians
  • Participate in the care and maintenance of the shop, grounds, equipment, and tools
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment complying with OSHA and company standards
  • Record all work and labor using the EMS system
  • Coordinate with Parts Department to ensure availability of materials and parts
  • Comply with EPA, DOT, and safety regulations
  • Perform other maintenance duties as needed
  • Qualifications
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Basic math skills
    • Fluent in English
    • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
    • At least 18 years old
    • Ability to pass a drug screening
