We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our team and provide exceptional therapeutic services to our clients. We have multiple contracts with nursing homes to provide support to their clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to helping individuals improve their mental health and emotional well-being, using evidence-based counseling techniques and approaches. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will be working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalized care and treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out counseling sessions to support clients in managing mental health challenges and achieving personal growth.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to the needs and goals of each client.
- Assess clients’ mental health status and gather comprehensive information through interviews, observations, and standardized assessments.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure the best outcomes.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies or acute mental health episodes.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals, medical staff, and external resources to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Stay informed of new developments in the field of mental health counseling through ongoing professional development and training.
- Educate and support families and caregivers on issues related to mental health and wellness.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within the healthcare system and community.
- A Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in a mental health counseling setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with a diverse client population.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a non-judgmental approach in all interactions.
- Proficiency in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
- Knowledge of various therapeutic methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based practices.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
- Experience working with specific populations such as adults, geriatrics or veterans.
