The City of Altoona, WI, population 9,835, invites applications from highly qualified fire professionals to join and lead the Altoona Fire Department. The successful applicant will have, at a minimum, the following:
- A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
- Certified State of Wisconsin Firefighter I
- Certified State of Wisconsin Firefighter II
- Certified State of Wisconsin Hazmat Operations, Preferred Hazmat Technician
- Certified State of Wisconsin Fire Officer I, Preferred Fire Officer 2
- Certified State of Wisconsin Fire Inspector I
- Certified State of Wisconsin EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic License
- National Fire Academy Incident Safety Officer
- FEMA Certificates: IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS-700, & IS-800b
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Seven (7) years of demonstrated progressive fire leadership experience
- Fire Officer supervisory experience
- Residency within 10 minutes response time of the fire station within one year of hire
Pre-employment screening is required.
Expected start date is after March 1 st , 2026.
Salary range is $64,916.80 - $83,470.40 + excellent benefits.
