Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer) is responsible for performing diagnostic medical sonographic examinations under the direction of a physician for the purpose of providing diagnostic data for patients of all ages. The technologist uses ultrasound equipment to capture images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images and patient safety.

Essential Job Functions- Operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic sonographic procedures in accordance with established protocols
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound exams; explain procedures to alleviate patient anxiety
- Recognize and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic data
- Analyze images and provide preliminary findings to the interpreting physician
- Maintain accurate records, patient charts, and image documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Adhere to infection control and patient safety guidelines
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and cleanliness of ultrasound equipment
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high‑quality patient care
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology
- Utilize the organization's secure messaging platform in accordance with departmental protocols, including, but not limited to, receipt and timely responses to communications related to on‑call responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Associate’s degree in diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology from an accredited school required
- Bachelor’s degree in diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology from an accredited school preferred
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification required
- BLS Certification required upon hire
- Previous clinical ultrasound experience preferred
- Must possess a cell phone that interfaces with the organization’s secure messaging system
