Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the 2nd floor Manager and at the direction of Registered Nurses, supports and provides high‑quality competent patient care specific to each surgical patient’s condition and treatment plan. Responsibilities include transporting and repositioning patients and equipment, meeting each patient’s care needs, assisting with preparation of 2nd floor, and properly cleaning any area of the facility according to policy and procedures.
Demonstrates clinical competence and knowledge of aseptic technique, handling of specimens and biohazard material, and universal precautions. Knowledge of physician order sets per surgical procedure, Meditech documentation, and use of medical and patient care equipment and supplies.

Works under stress, requiring patience, stamina, endurance, and tact to provide impeccable service. Fosters teamwork and willingness to assist others. Hours- 0.8 FTE – 32 Hours Per Week
- PM/NOC Position – Shifts between 3 pm – 6:30 am end times
- 8‑hour shifts
- Potential weekend rotation
- Participates in preparing patients for admission, discharge, return to surgery, transfer to/from CT
- Routine checks of ice machines, CPMs, patient hydration needs, patient safety, and positioning
- Collaborate patient care with other CNA, RN and Charge RN
- Possess excellent time‑management skills and be able to swiftly reprioritize tasks
- Perform accurate, timely routine observation and documentation of ADLs, vital signs, drain output as per provider order or RN needs
- Assist others in preparation of clinical areas and patient care as directed
- Provide safe patient transfers with appropriate assistive devices and medical equipment
- Assist patients with bedpans or commodes
- Answer patient call lights as needed
- Change patient linens daily and PRN
- Perform daily glucometer and strip quality checks as required
- Keep rooms tidy and comply with infection control guidelines and policies
- Serve meals and snacks if needed
- Perform routine room audits, inventory of outdated supplies, and stocking of supplies in patient rooms, utility rooms, med carts, and unit
- Protect patients' sensitivities and right to privacy
- Demonstrate proper technique with pre‑operative scrubs and shaves as requested
- Handle/transport specimens, labs and biohazardous material as directed by manager
- Participate in quality improvement activities as requested
- Demonstrate effective, compassionate communication skills with patients, families, and staff
- Other duties as assigned

- Support and facilitate OLSH and Second Floor initiatives enhancing patient satisfaction
- Communicate effectively, professionally, accurately, and timely with all staff and patients
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and staffing the Second Floor to optimize performance and productivity according to patient census and acuity
- Consistently demonstrate commitment to teamwork by actively participating in process improvement, patient satisfaction, unit and committee meetings, daily routines, patient care, and unit activities
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Current CNA licensure in the State of Wisconsin
- BLS certification required upon hire
