Job SummaryCoordinates and monitors the provision of infection control throughout the hospital services by demonstrating leadership, creativity, initiative, and collaborative problem solving.

Essential Job Functions- Serves as a resource and promotes best practices and principles of infection prevention.
- Develops, implements, documents, and monitors the infection control plan, programs, and initiatives for the hospital.
- Sits on multiple committees, including PI/Safety Committee I.
- Assures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Becomes familiar with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and accrediting body standards and regulations.
- Collects, analyzes, and submits data in a timely manner, as required.
- Collects 30- and 90- day infections and complications data. Works closely with the surgeons and staff to investigate any identified issues or concerns.
- Rounds the hospital on a regular basis to assist with survey readiness.
- Works closely with the performance improvement team to ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
- Educates all staff, leaders, and providers in relation to infection control and prevention standards. Provides updates at All Staff meetings on infection control updates.
- Collaborates with and provides back-up for the Employee Health RN.
- Completes employee health visits per organization policy and department protocols.
- Performs blood borne pathogen exposure assessment, treatment, and follow up.
- Participates in preventative screening and vaccination programs (I.e., TB skin testing, influenza, hepatitis B, MMR, varicella, and other appropriate immunizations) and surveillance programs designed to identify and monitor risk.
- Is independent and self-driven in their workday practices.
- Regular and prompt work‑site attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin.
- Infection Prevention/Control Certification preferred.
- BLS certification is required upon hire.
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products is preferred.
- Willingness to participate in goal‑setting and educational activities for own professional advancement and that of others. Participates, trains and adheres to facility compliance program.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of infection control, membership in APIC, or previous health care leadership or management experience is preferred.
- Is aware of professional standards, accrediting organization standards, State and Federal regulations, and performs in accordance with them.
