SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Altrincham
, supporting pupils with a range of additional and complex needs.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and is looking for a rewarding position within a specialist setting. The school caters for pupils who may present with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD and behavioural needs
, meaning resilience, patience and the ability to build positive relationships are essential.
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Encouraging engagement within lessons and school activities
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning programmes
- Promoting a safe, positive and structured learning environment
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and life skills
- Specialist provision for pupils with additional and complex needs
- Small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios
- Strong emphasis on pastoral support and emotional wellbeing

- Background in SEN, SEMH, care, youth work, support work or education is desirable

- Complete an enhanced DBS check registered to the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years
- Complete safeguarding, child protection and compliance checks
Verify right to work in the UK - Provide proof of relevant qualifications where applicable
- Participate in safeguarding and compliance training as required
This position is subject to satisfactory safeguarding and vetting checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
