Overview
Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic role at Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS). The position involves troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, and performing final functional and operational tests of pneudraulic (hydraulic) systems, components, and equipment on KC-135, C-17, or KC-46 aircraft.

Base pay range$32.26/hr - $37.63/hr
Hourly Wage Range: $32.26 - $37.63
Duties and responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and test major aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems, their assemblies, and components.
- Isolate malfunctions and determine required adjustments on components such as brakes, struts, wing and cowl flaps, windshield wipers, landing gear actuators, control surface actuators, pressure regulators, pumps, relief valves, brake cabin pressurization systems, shimmy dampers, and other hydraulic and pneumatic accessories.
- Disassemble and reassemble accessories, adjust and test to ensure proper operation according to technical orders, manuals, parts books, and schematics.
- Jack aircraft to flight configuration, connect power sources, and use cockpit controls and gauges to inspect landing gear doors, ground and flight spoilers, steering and brake systems for performance and conformance to specifications.
- Perform operational checks and calibrate equipment such as hydraulic/pneumatic test stands, flight control fixtures, test devices, and related tooling.
- Assist with launch, recovery, servicing, and ground-handling of aircraft.
- Apply knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic principles, fluid dynamics, and basic electrical and mechanical concepts to inspect and maintain systems.
- Know aircraft pneudraulic systems and associated equipment used in maintenance and checks, including pneudraulic test stands and hydraulic jacks.
- Understand aircraft structures and how pneudraulic systems relate to other aircraft systems and to the work of related trades.

- May be required to complete a USA Hire Standard Assessment.
- US Citizenship is required.
- This is a drug testing position; the employee is subject to random drug testing.
- Requires an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license (or associated military experience).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces.
- Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with lifting devices or assistance.
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required on very rare occasions.
