Position: MECHANICAL ENGINEER with Security Clearance
Duties GS-0830-07 DUTIES
* Uses prescribed methods to perform specific, and limited work assignments that are normally minor phases of a broader assignment of a higher-grade engineer.
* Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist higher grade engineers in solving engineering problems and facilitate the work.
* Assists in coordinating projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects.
* Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. GS-0830-09 DUTIES
* Participates in design work for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering.
* Prepares or participates in the preparation of architect and engineer (A&E) statements of work (SOW).
* Coordinates projects with other engineers in other disciplines or with architects.
* Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete.
* In conjunction with the primary duty of engineering design, on a less frequent basis performs work in the construction management, programming/base development, and/or operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. GS-0830-11 DUTIES
* Monitors and manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering and knowledge of other engineering disciplines to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, etc.
* Assists in planning and design process for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities and utility systems utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering.
* Evaluates/recommends programs and development plans and advocates for project requirements. Performs work in facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Provides consulting services and project coordination.
* Collects data and evaluates factors which affect the application of concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to observe, examine, measure, analyze, map, and describe physical and technical features and phenomena.
* Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. GS-0830-12 DUTIES
* Performs planning and design work for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering.
* Manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering and knowledge of other engineering disciplines to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, etc.
* Plans, programs, budgets, and executes required projects in support of assigned programs. Performs work in facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Provides consulting services and project coordination.
* Collects data and evaluates factors which affect the application of concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to observe, examine, measure, analyze, map, and describe physical and technical features and phenomena.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
* This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.
* The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
* May act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required.
* Disclosure of Political Appointments
* May be required to serve on A and E selection boards.
* The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
