This is a part‑time faculty pool for assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the year; reviewed based on departmental needs. Selected candidates will be contacted for interview. Applicants must upload transcripts for ALL degrees, have a TCOLE instructor license or equivalent, and meet travel and fingerprinting requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide instruction in the ACC Police Academy according to TCOLE objective requirements.
- Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locations.
- Show a commitment to student engagement, success, and instructional excellence.
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
- Prepare and use a course syllabus and assessments following institutional guidelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and use varied instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of students.
- Advise students academically or refer them to appropriate resources.
- Assess students’ performance and keep them informed of progress in a timely manner.
- Engage students face‑to‑face and through electronic communications.
- Utilize technology to facilitate learning, access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
- Assist in developing, distributing, and collecting assessments for courses and program objectives.
- Build positive professional relationships with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
- Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departments.
- Provide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate committees regarding curriculum, instruction, and division operations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through professional development activities.
- Adhere to ACC policies and procedures.
- Attend institutional meetings as required.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
The incumbent typically works in a classroom and law enforcement academy environment, using a computer, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level is typical of a classroom. Physical demands: regularly sit, talk or hear; frequently use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel; and stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a TCOLE instructor license or license and/or certification in a specialized field required by TCOLE.
- Peace Officer license.
- Associate’s degree with a minimum of three (3) years non‑teaching experience in law enforcement.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience as a subject matter expert in the required area.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
