Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Treatment Nurse (RN/LVN) position is to participate in and oversee the wound care of Residents as prescribed by the attending physician, consistent with accepted standards of care and within the scope of RN/LVN training and licensure. At times, this position will provide care directly to the Resident and/or supervise the direction of this care by a Certified Nursing Assistant to ensure that the highest practical well‑being is maintained by the Resident.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing School and a current and valid license in the applicable State.
  • Minimum of one‑year experience in a long‑term or health care setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current wound care treatments and dressings.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
Essential Functions
  • Observe, assess, treat, and document Residents’ wounds according to the Resident Care Management System, Skin, Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Ensure the utilization of preventative measures to prevent the development of pressure ulcers.
  • Assist in the collection and documentation of data for Quality Assurance, including the weekly Pressure/Non‑Pressure Trending Reports.
  • Consult with Director of Nurses/Attending Physician regarding changes in Residents’ wounds/condition.
  • Receive, transcribe, and execute physicians’ orders.
  • Ensure the implementation of care plans to promote wound healing.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Identify and secure equipment and supplies for wound care.
  • Notify each Resident’s attending physician and family or responsible party promptly of any significant change in the Resident’s wound/condition; document this notification in the medical record.
  • Participate in assigning duties and ensure the delivery of appropriate clinical care by the CNA staff.
  • Document and report each Resident’s accident or incident fully in accordance with Cantex Senior Communities Clinical Policies and Procedures and state/federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Function as a Team Leader/Role Model.
  • Ensure a safe environment for the Resident population.
  • May participate in the Nurse Manager On‑call rotation.
  • Review Cantex Senior Communities Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and enforce employee responsibilities.
  • Assure patient/resident safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
