The Director of Student Affairs is responsible for providing strategic leadership, planning, administration, and oversight of all student development, student engagement, student welfare, and student initiatives of the University. The role ensures the holistic growth of students by fostering an inclusive, vibrant, safe, and student-centric campus environment. The Director leads student clubs, societies, events, community engagement initiatives, NSS, counselling services, and student welfare activities while ensuring effective governance, compliance, financial stewardship, and alignment with the University's vision and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Administration:
- Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the Directorate of Student Affairs in alignment with the University's vision, mission, and student development objectives.
- Develop and implement policies, frameworks, strategic plans, and annual operating plans related to student engagement, student welfare, and student leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in student engagement, student success, and holistic student development initiatives.
- Represent the University in external forums, government agencies, professional associations, and student development networks.
2. Student Clubs, Societies & Student Organizations
- Lead and oversee all student clubs, societies, associations, and student-led organizations across the University.
- Establish governance structures, operational guidelines, funding mechanisms, and performance evaluation systems for student clubs and societies.
- Ensure effective functioning, accountability, and sustainability of student organizations.
- Mentor student leaders, club coordinators, office bearers, and student representatives.
3. NSS, NCC & Community Engagement
National Service Scheme (NSS):
- Oversee the functioning, effectiveness, and impact of NSS activities and community engagement programs.
- Promote student participation in social responsibility initiatives, outreach activities, and community service projects.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
- Provide institutional support and strategic oversight for NCC activities in coordination with Directorate of Student Discipline & Hostels and NCC Officers and relevant authorities.
- Facilitate student participation in NCC camps, leadership programs, and national-level initiatives.
Community Outreach
- Strengthen civic engagement and social impact initiatives aligned with the University's values and societal responsibilities.
4. Student Welfare, Counselling & Support Services
- Lead student welfare initiatives aimed at enhancing student satisfaction, inclusion, belongingness, and overall campus experience.
- Supervise and coordinate counselling services through the University Counsellor.
- Ensure effective delivery of:
- Mental Health Support Services
- Individual and Group Counselling
- Awareness and Wellness Programs
- Referral and Intervention Mechanisms
- Develop systems for early identification and support of students facing personal, emotional, behavioural, or adjustment challenges.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and student-friendly campus environment.
5. Student Grievance Management
- Address student grievances and concerns related to student life, welfare, and campus activities.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to resolve student issues effectively and fairly.
- Ensure compliance with university regulations related to:
- Student Conduct
- Event Management
- Safety Standards
- Risk Management Protocols
- Foster a culture of mutual respect, responsibility, and accountability among students.
6. Student Leadership Development
- Design and implement student leadership development programs.
- Identify and nurture future student leaders.
- Mentor and guide:
- Student Council Members
- Club Leaders
- NSS Volunteers
- Event Coordinators
- Facilitate participation in state, national, and international leadership programs, competitions, and student development initiatives.
7. Financial Management & Governance
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, resource allocation, and utilization for Student Affairs activities.
- Establish robust approval, monitoring, audit, and reporting mechanisms for student programs and expenditures.
- Ensure financial accountability and compliance with university policies and procedures.
- Optimize utilization of resources to maximize student impact and engagement.
8. Stakeholder Collaboration & Coordination
Collaborate closely with:
- Student Discipline & Hostels
- Academic Affairs
- Hostel Administration
- Admissions Team
- Corporate Relations & Career Services (CRCS)
- Other Essential Departments
- Strengthen cross-functional partnerships to enhance student experience and campus engagement.
9. Student Events & Campus Engagement
- Provide strategic oversight for planning, organizing, and execution of all student events including:
- Cultural Festivals
- Technical Festivals
- Literary Events
- Competitions
