Northwest Texas Healthcare System is assisting Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Amarillo campus in recruiting a fellowship-trained BC/BE Trauma Surgeon to provide Trauma, Acute, and Surgical Critical Care services at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX. The position is with the employed Faculty practice at TTUHSC School of Medicine, which enjoys a strong reputation throughout the region. The Department of Surgery at TTUHSC in Amarillo offers surgical services in Trauma/Critical Care Surgery, General Surgery, and Wound Care.

Position highlights:

Hospital is the Trauma Center for the 26-county Texas Panhandle Service area also extends to surrounding states1,500 trauma admissions annually

Wide range of case types

Surgical and Trauma call coverage on a rotating schedule

Call shared equally with three other Trauma surgeons

Block scheduling to include a week of days 7a-7p; 3-4 nights of 7p-7a; 4-5 backups

Hospital surgical services and consultations while on service

Surgical consultations and follow care in the clinic at TTUHSC Amarillo campus

Faculty appointment with TTUHSCProvide medical education to third and fourth-year medical students in surgical rotations

Some education to residents from TTUHSC Amarillo ACGME programs (FM, IM, OB/GYN, Peds)

Qualifications:

BC in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship training in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher

Record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed activity contributing to the surgical discipline

Interest in teaching and academic medicine
