Description:

The Department of Family Medicine provides high quality health care and educational experiences. Working as a team of healthcare providers and educators, we advance a unique model of patient care characterized by:

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assesses patients by obtaining and reviewing health histories, assessing presenting illness and performing an appropriate physical examination.
  • Orders laboratory, diagnostic and screening tests.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans including medications.
  • Educates patients on wellness, illness prevention and disease management.
  • Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatments.
  • Coordinates care with subspecialists.
  • Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participates in quality improvement, continuing education and patient care programs established by the department, clinic and/or hospital.
  • Participates in the training and education of residents and medical students.
Required Qualifications
  • MD, DO or MBBS.
  • Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME Family Medicine Residency.
  • Board certified, board eligible, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Ability to obtain a TX Medical License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EMR.
