PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Manages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the division.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Minimum of 45 college hours or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred.
Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of instructional practices in a school setting.
Ability to follow lesson plans.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Conflict resolution skills.
Discipline management skills.
Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Technology skills preferred.
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching.
Lifting: Lifting and carrying less than 50 pounds.
Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress; must wear professional attire.
Minimum Experience:
High school diploma; prior employment in a school setting preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.Maintain discipline and classroom control that foster a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Report to the office upon arrival at school; check mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; request clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.Implement lesson plans, ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.Organize students for effective instruction.Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.Complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher.Collect and place students’ papers in the regular teacher’s desk.Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place.Determine if services will be required for the next school day.Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.Model non-discriminatory practices; follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers, including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrators in accordance with school/division policies and practices.#J-18808-Ljbffr
