Substitute Teacher – WTAMU/Texas Tech 2+1 (Classroom Management Course Only)

Primary PurposeManages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the District.
Qualifications- Currently enrolled at WTAMU (Classroom Management).
- Currently enrolled in the Texas Tech 2+1 Program.
- Knowledge of assigned curriculum and instructional methods.
- Lesson planning and presentation skills.
- Conflict resolution and classroom management skills.
- Group interaction skills.
Proficiency with standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals.
Work Conditions- Tools/Equipment:
Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. - Posture:
Prolonged sitting and standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. - Motion:
Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching. - Lifting:
Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds). - Environment:
Must work with frequent interruptions and maintain a professional demeanor under stress; must work flexible hours including summer and evening work; must wear professional attire. - Work required number of days according to WT Classroom Management Course.
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Report to office upon arrival at school; check mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; request clarification of school rules and procedures if necessary.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.
- Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.
- Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
- Collect and place students' papers.
- Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to the proper place.
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.
- Participate in AISD Substitute Teacher staff development.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
