ESD Tutor (High School Graduate)

Lead student study groups to improve academic achievement for students. This position is supplemental to locally funded positions.
QualificationsMinimum
Education/Certification:
High school diploma and some college hours preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of literacy and higher order thinking skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Follow written and/or oral directions and exercise good judgment.
- Work effectively and harmoniously with students and school personnel.
- Ability to instruct a small group of students.
- Working knowledge of the grade level(s) and subject(s) assigned.
- Tools/Equipment used: standard office/educational equipment including PC, tablets, Smart Board, etc.
- Posture: prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting.
- Motion: repetitive hand motions.
- Lifting: less than 50 pounds.
- Environment: frequent interruptions; exposure to sun, heat, cold, inclement weather; noise.
- Regular attendance is essential.
Experience working with school‑age students is preferred; may include work in church schools, day camps, youth groups, athletics, private schools, or similar.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Comply with the guidelines of the Extended School Day Program.
- Provide direct instruction to assigned students.
- Plan lessons for small or individual groups.
- Lead study groups using appropriate methodologies.
- Analyze individual student progress.
- Develop and maintain resources to support the students.
- Participate in tutor training and staff development.
- Establish a friendly, but not familiar, rapport with students.
- Serve as a role model for students.
- Keep the teacher informed of student progress.
- Keep the teacher informed of interactions with students.
- Be flexible in working with all students.
- Share in typing, duplicating, and record‑keeping duties of the program.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Model non‑discriminatory practices; follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies, state and federal statutes, including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.
